Sholawat Tarhim

Sholawat Tarhim is very famous in Indonesia, because before adzan fill the air through loud speaker in the masjid or musholla, usually this sholawat is played, particularly in early morning prayer. This sholawat was written by Syaikh Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary (1917-1980), the chairman of Jam’iyyatul Qurro’ in Cairo, Egypt.

Syaikh Mahmoud Al-Hussary (1917-1980, محمود خليل الحصري) is ulama from Al-Alzhar University and the famous Qâri’  (Quran citer) in his generation. That's why he is called Shaykh Al-Maqâri (qiroah expert). He is well known because of his ability to read Al Qur'an with tartîl. He said that reading Al Qur'an is must not only focused on its rhythm but the most important thing is tartîl: understanding the content of Al Qur'an through lingusitic study and Arabic ancient dialects, and the mastery of tajwid. Therefore, we can achieve the true meaning (pure intepretation) when reading Al-Qur'an.
